Intro
Finding a niche topic to build a blogging website around is often the first hurdle for many, but it really shouldn’t be that difficult. There are literally thousands of subjects that you have to choose from, and each can offer you a chance to create an income.
That’s because you can find affiliate products within any niche. However, there are a few topics that are much more popular than others. Before I mention what the most popular blog topics are, I want to instill this message into your mind.
You CAN become an authority in any niche, regardless of the competition. Just because these niche topics have loads of websites already dedicated to them, doesn’t mean you can’t join the party. You have every right and opportunity to rank in search engines as your competition does.
What Makes These Blog Topics The Best
Firstly, I’d like to give you the 2 main reasons why these niches are more popular than other subjects.
- They are evergreen niches
- They trigger emotion
Evergreen
Evergreen niches are great because they allow you to write articles that are date irrelevant. What does this mean? It means that you can write a post and it will still be relevant years down the track.
That’s not to say, you may not come back to slightly modify the post with more relevant information. But it will still serve a useful purpose to your readers into the future.
An example would be offering fitness techniques. I’m sure these techniques will still be applicable in years to come.
On the flip side, an article that is not evergreen would possibly be about sporting fixtures. Once a sports fixture has passed, it becomes irrelevant.
Emotion
The other benefit of these niches is that they trigger an emotion, which can get your readers to make a purchase. Obviously this can help you if your website is setup as a store with your own products, or for affiliate marketing commissions.
An instance of this can be an article showing the benefits of how supplements can help with weight loss. You promote these supplements and have an affiliate link to where they can be bought. If your reader becomes attached to what you’ve written, they can become emotionally involved. Possibly to the extent that they make a spontaneous decision to buy.
The Top 8 Popular Blog Niches
Let’s run through each of these top niche’s and see why they are so good to promote.
Fitness & Weight Loss
The largest of all website niches, and for good reason. The fitness industry makes insane amounts of money each year, and bloggers are keen to take a piece of the pie (so to speak). Riding on the coattails of people’s obsession with keeping fit can earn you a packet.
With so many weight loss products on the market that include exercise equipment, supplements, diet programs and exercise programs, it’s easy to get caught up in this niche. Especially if you’re a fitness guru yourself who has a passion for a particular type of fitness subject.
This is where the fitness niche is so valuable. You can create one site that includes all of the following sub niches, or start multiple sites that all complement each other. There’s varying sub niches such as the following:
- Personal training
- Fitness
- Muscle building
- Fat burning
- Aerobics
- Weightlifting
- Yoga
- Running
- Cycling
- Losing belly fat
Concentrate on one of these particular sub-niches to begin with, then once you gain a bit of authority, include a different sub-niche to your site. Alternatively, begin a different site if you’d prefer.
Making Money
Right up there with the fitness phenomenon is the niche of teaching people how to make money. This may come in different forms. In my case here, I’m in the business of teaching people how affiliate marketing can create them wealth. I also promote products and services that bring in affiliate commissions. If I know how to do it, I can also teach it.
Other forms of Money Making websites include promoting how to set up a drop-shipping store, a store selling your own products such as T-shirts, buying and selling shares or crypto currencies or even getting out of debt.
Unfortunately, there’s many scams out there that also have affiliate programs. I avoid these programs, as I’d rather keep my reputation in tact. I also don’t want my readers getting caught up in one of these scams. (In fact I try to notify my readers of some of the worst scams).
As there is a fair amount to learn with creating a website to make money online, many of these topics can be your sub-niche. Here’s some of the sub-topics:
- Traffic generation
- Email marketing
- List building
- Website creation
- Affiliate programs
- Software reviews
- Private Label Rights
- Paid Advertising
There’s so many other sub-niches to choose from also, this is only scratching the surface. Choosing the Money Making niche can very profitable, but like the fitness and weight loss niches, it can take longer to become an authority and see results. Here’s a timeline that can give you an idea of how to become an authority in the Making Money online niche.
Health
Although closely related to fitness and weight loss, the health industry is also a large topic of discussion. With many people searching Dr Google these days, you really need to be careful of what you include in a health website.
Having said that, writing about how to keep healthy by offering advice on how you can prevent disease, or precautionary measures for travelling, playing sports etc can be a great way of gaining a following. There’s also a few sub-niches you can write about such as:
- Hair loss
- Diabetes
- Back pain
- Anti-aging
- Skin care
- Fatigue
- Eating habits
- Eating disorders
As you can see, there’s more health issues than you probably imagined, and I’m sure you can think of others.
Romance/Dating
Online dating has become huge business in recent times, think Tinder, eHarmony, RSVP etc. If you enjoy helping people with relationship issues, it’s possible that you could become an authority in this subject.
You could even write your own books to sell in this niche, or promote books from Amazon. Obviously, promoting dating apps and website services is also going to be a large part of your campaign.
Men and women have been attempting to figure each other out since time began, you can help them win each others hearts. Not many people like to live alone, which is why this niche is extremely popular.
You only have to look as far as your TV to see how popular it is, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, The Farmer Wants a Wife etc. There’s also many sub-niches and affiliate ideas that include the following:
- Perfume/Cologne
- Jewelry
- Romantic Getaways
- Dinner Cruises
- Massage & Spa Treatments
- Dating Events
- Online Dating
- Romance Tips
- Counselling
- Flowers
- Greeting Cards
Help make people’s lives better by starting an online business in the romance niche and you’ll also feel better about yourself.

Pets
Just think of the amount of people who have a pet of some type. Families, singles, widows, so many people enjoy having a pet to come home to after work or school. So it only figures that these people are searching for pet related issues on the internet.
Creating a pet niche website gives you the opportunity to express your thoughts and opinions on your dog breed or other pet passion you may be into. You could be a turtle person, turtles are a much bigger niche than most imagine.
Once established in this niche, you can promote or sell all types of pet related products or services. There’s a huge array of affiliate based opportunities, or you could open your own online eCommerce store with your own pet toys.
This niche list is endless, just imagine the possibilities here:
- Dogs
- Cats
- Insects
- Farm animals
- Fish
- Rabbits
- Sea Creatures
- Horses ….
Then there’s the various promotion opportunities:
- Toys
- Food
- Habitats (cages, pens etc)
- Maintenance (pooper-scoopers. cleaning products etc)
- Grooming
- Veterinary
- Health
The pet niche is one of my favourites as they can be so expansive. Although one of these niches can be an ideal opportunity for a successful online business, you could rinse and repeat the process to a similar pet type.
This can give you the chance to diversify your skills and expand into other areas.
Beauty
Have you ever heard of vanity? It’s the keeping up of one’s appearance which is also big business. When you’re next on public transport, take a look around and note how people are groomed and beautified. Secondly, many of them are looking at Pinterest or Instagram for beauty tips.
Everyday millions of people are making themselves presentable for work or pleasure. This industry will never go away, and could be your Avenue to a successful career in the online world.
Again, there are a multitude of sub-niches that you can take advantage of including the following:
- Cosmetics
- Grooming
- Beauty contests
- Beauty magazines
- Nails
- Hair
- Tanning
- Eye lashes
You also get the impression that when celebrities not only promote beauty products, but they also create their own brands, proving the industry is booming.
So, if beauty is your passion or you’d like it to be, then this is certainly a top niche to get into and write a blog about.
Tech/Gadgets
Video games, new digital gadgets or software programs. These are not only a top nice but can be an expensive one also. Meaning more commissions for you if you’re an affiliate marketer.
We all know the digital world has exploded in recent times and there’s plenty of opportunity for you to take advantage. One of the best ways to get involved in this niche, is to write gaming reviews, then share a link to sell the product.
This can then snowball into the other products that gamers use such as headsets, monitors, controllers etc. Have you seen how popular some of these gaming conventions and competitions are! It’s become a world of its own.
But it’s not just gaming that you could blog about, check out these sub-niches also:
- Cell phones
- PC’s/laptops
- Consoles
- Kindles/Tablets
- Fitness Trackers
- Tv’s
- Soundbars
- Smart watches
- Headsets/Buds
- Drones
The list is endless and with the growth in technology climbing at an astounding rate, more and more gadgets are released every year. Riding on the coat-tails of the success of the digital age is popular, but there’s no reason you cannot join in.
Reviews and opinion are huge in this field as people are always searching for this information before they make a purchase. Get them to read your opinion, then offer the product on your website.
Travel
Lastly, one of the most passionate niche markets and for good reason. Who doesn’t enjoy a great holiday to a tropical destination or an alpine location! Because of the constant dream of living the travel lifestyle, so many followers can be found via various methods, all being directed to your blog.
Social media is a brilliant execution method to attract visitors to your promotions. It’s amazing what can be achieved with a few idyllic images of palm trees and Pina-Colada’s! Yet another great opportunity to blog about your favourite topic whilst earning an income.
Obviously you’ve got all the various countries that you can base your site around. Other than that, here’s a few other sub-niche ideals:
- Beach locations
- Ski fields
- Adventure destinations
- Family vacations
- Theme park adventures
- Themed tours
- Solo travel
- Luxury travel
- Female/male travel
- Off the beaten track
- 4WD travel
- Camping
- Traveling on a budget
- Food tours
Again, this list could go on forever. My advice would be to never have a travel website that is not a sub-niche. It will always be easier to rank against the larger companies if you are blogging with a clear niche in mind that search engines can easily figure out.
Your promotional Avenues are huge with products like these:
- Luggage
- Travel package search
- Charter planes
- Charter sailboats
- Travel gadgets
- Travel magazines
- Books
- Subscription services
- Cameras
- Photo albums (if people still use them!)
There you go, the travel industry, like all these other niches is big business with plenty of money to go around. There’s also more wealthy people to promote to these days and if you don’t take up the challenge, there’s always someone else that will.
Tired of seeing Scams or endless fraud sites?
Wrapping Up
One main point I want to drive home here, is that there is still room for YOU to begin a niche website on the internet. Just because there are millions of websites currently online, doesn’t mean you cannot compete against them. In fact, let’s see what happens to the majority of websites.
There are over 1.9 Billion websites online! (This will probably have gone up by the time you read this). That’s amazing isn’t it. But check this out. 85% of those are inactive. So, there’s still 285 million websites that ARE active. Of those, many are blogs that don’t get anywhere because the owners don’t have the training to monetise their site.
Another amazing statistic, is that in 2017, over 1.66 billion people made a purchase online! So, why should they all be going to the remaining 15% of active websites? To put that another way, here is your opportunity to join the party. Not only that, but over 80% of companies now have an affiliate program. They need people like us to promote their products. And in doing so, we’ll earn good commissions.
Choose your sub-niche and get started. There’s still plenty of room for your website to overtake your competition. Just do it better then them. Learn the tactics of SEO and get online now! Read on below if you’d like to get started.

Like many people, I struggled in my early attempts to make money online. It's really frustrating when you try product after product, searching for that elusive opportunity that is really genuine.
Eventually though, I learned how to achieve success in the online world with my own website. This website was created to show others how to do it. I direct people away from the poor opportunities and advise the good ones.
But the simplest and least complicated is [Learn more...]
