Update: As a brief update to this article, I just wanted to alert you to the current social impacts that affect MLM opportunities. Multilevel marketing consultants primarily work by hosting house parties to present and demonstrate products to potential customers. As social distancing has become apparent, these hosted house parties or events can no longer go ahead.
Instead, companies with MLM opportunities are turning to sales online to keep their consultants active. What's ironic about this, is that they are basically turning it into an affiliate marketing venture. However, consultants will only be allowed to sell the products of the MLM company they are involved with.
So, the choice now is owning a website and only selling one companies products, or own a website and sell any products you like (eg: traditional affiliate marketing). I know what I'd be choosing!
In fact, in most cases, the MLM company will still own the website. I've seen instances where they will give it to you free for 3 months, then you have to pay for it. eg: domain & hosting fees. This will be on top of other MLM fees. This is not the case with genuine affiliate marketing, where YOU own your own website.

Rarity Nails Summary
Product Name: Rarity Nails
Founded: 2018
Price: Free to sign up
Short Verdict: In my opinion, Rarity Nails is a legitimate option to make some very small commissions. I don’t believe much money is available to earn, so those with a passion in the fingernail industry may find this more appealing.
Would I Recommend It: Not really
Rating: 40/100
What is Rarity Nails
Rarity Nails is a new opportunity to sell nail strips to prospective buyers. It’s pretty much an MLM scheme because you can earn commissions from new referrals you recruit.
The company is fairly new, as the raritynails.com domain name was only first registered in June of 2018. Since this time, there’s been reasonable success with attracting new Rarity Nails sales consultants.
The company itself sells packets of nail strips, an alternative to painting your own fingernails. They claim that their products are far more superior to others, with the following benefits:
- Easy to apply
- Lasting wear
- No smudging
- No dry time
- Non toxic
I won’t be discrediting this at all, as I see no reason for this to be untrue. There are several videos of people that really like the Rarity Nails products, and I’ll talk about their products soon.
You can simply purchase products through their website, or you can become a sales consultant to earn a side income. This review is going to explain a bit more about the opportunity to earn money through the Rarity Nails MLM program.
How To Get Started With Rarity Nails
Getting started with Rarity Nails is simple. Firstly, you’ll need to be 18 years of age or older, and have the correct documentation to work legally in the US or Canada. You can either be approached by one of their current sales consultants, or go directly to their website and go to ‘Become a Consultant’ on their main menu.
You’ll be presented with the below image which you can click on to find out more information. They say it’s a purchase, even though the dollar value is $0.00.
Once you read the documentation they provide you with, you can decide if this is the ideal opportunity that you’re after. The great part about Rarity Nails is that there are no startup fees unless you want to purchase some of your own nail strip packs.

Rarity Nails Payment Structure
Although this is an opportunity to earn some cash, I don’t believe you’ll be making much money at all. If you join up as a sales consultant with Rarity Nails, you’ll be doing it because you enjoy the experience.
There’s two methods of earning with rarity Nails:
- Affiliate commissions
- Referral commissions
Affiliate earnings are 25% commissions on every sale you make directly. Because these nail packs are fairly cheap, commission earnings are not going to be all that large. Having said that, a 25% commission rate is very good.
What you need to be aware of though, is the cost of products you’re selling. Pretty much all products are either $7 or $5. So based on a 25% commission of a $7 nail pack, you’ll only be making $1.75 per sale.
On top of this however, are a couple of bonus tiers.
- 2% bonus on sales totaling $300 or more in a calendar month.
- 4% bonus on sales totaling $600 or more in a calendar month.
Moving onto referral commissions, which is where you can build a team of sales consultants under you. For each sale that your recruits make, you’ll earn various percentages of their sales.
- 1st tier referrals signed up under you – you earn 3% of their sales
- 2nd tier referrals signed up under you – you earn 2% of their sales
- 3st tier referrals signed up under you – you earn 1% of their sales
- 4th tier referrals signed up under you – you earn 3% of their sales
I’m assuming that not many people get to the level of 4th tier recruits, as this spikes up to 3% again.
As an additional bonus, if your whole team accumulates $2,500 worth of sales within one calendar month, you’ll receive an extra 3%. While this may sound a lot, it basically means that you need a whole sales team to make over 350 sales in a month, to receive a $75 bonus.
If you do decide to create a team, you’ll be required to sell $20 of products within a calendar month, to earn commission from your down-line the following month. This can be bought by yourself or a customer.
MLM Success Is Rare
I just want to make you aware that successful MLM sales consultants are rare. Although I believe Rarity Nails to be a genuine opportunity to earn a few dollars on the side, if you’re doing this to begin your own entrepreneurship, forget it.
In general, only 73% of MLM consultants don’t make money, or break even. This was from a survey conducted by PRNewswire who surveyed 20 million MLM participating Americans. They concluded that nearly half (47 percent) lose money and a quarter (27 percent) make no money at all.
In my opinion, the only reason you’d join an MLM is because you have a passion for the products that are being sold. This may be a stepping stone to something in the future, but I’m not sure nail strips have much progression.
Often the first few sales you make are to friends and family members. While this is nice, and they will initially buy from your new enterprise, it won’t last forever. Eventually you’ll be searching for buyers that have no interest in what you’re selling, this is where it can really get you down.
The other thing to keep in mind is that you may have associated costs, such as host party supplies or petrol to visit potential customers. These costs will need to be recouped before any profit will be made.
What Products Are Involved
I’ve mentioned how cheap the Rarity Nails products are, but I also want to mention the quality. The Rarity Nails homepage seems proud of the fact their products are free of dangerous or unsavory elements. Their nails are free of:
- Formaldehyde
- Resin
- Toluene
- DBP
- Camphor
- Ethyl
- Tosylamide
- Xylene
- Triphenyl
- Phosphate
- Parabens
- Acetone
- Lead
- Cadmium
- Arsenic
- Mercury
- Soluble Nickel
I agree, they should be proud of that. Having watched several videos, users seem very happy with these nail strips, even claiming they are better than some more expensive alternatives.
Here’s how one sales consultant explains Rarity Nails, although you’ll have to disregard the links she talks about to her website.
Is Rarity Nails a Scam or Pyramid Scheme
No, Rarity Nails is neither a scam nor a pyramid scheme.
Although there is not a lot of money to be made from selling nail strips, the opportunity still presents itself to earn some money.
Pyramid schemes are illegal in most states of the US and Canada, along with many other countries. This is because they rely on new recruits to bring in money with no physical products being sold. For this reason, the recruits dry up and they collapse, leaving many with no investment return.
Rarity Nails is not this type of company, they are legit.

My Verdict
Although I don’t believe Rarity Nails to be a good money making initiative, those with a passion for fingernail designs may get joy out of becoming a consultant.
The commissions percentages are not poor, but because the products are so cheap, there’s not much money to be made.
How I Make Money
If you’re interested in making money online, you could always copy what I do. I’m an affiliate marketer, so I basically sell other people’s products online.
There are some similarities to selling Rarity Nails, in that I earn commissions from sales I make. However, I’m not tied to one product like fingernail products.
If you do have a passion for cosmetics and/or beauty products, it would make more sense to create a website, and sell products via this new website of yours. This way you can sign up to the affiliate programs that suit you, with all types of commissions.
You may find recurring commissions, meaning you get paid on a monthly basis if somebody signs up to a subscription type program. Alternatively, smaller commissions on expensive products may be more suitable, or larger percentages with less sales required.
It’s possible to earn massive commission if you do this right. When I mean massive, I mean hundreds of dollars in one commission, or more. As an example, I earned $398 USD from a single commission.
This is just an example to show you what is possible.
You can take this type of venture anywhere, and the best part, you can work from home or remotely. (No need to concern yourself where the money is coming in when the next pandemic hits!).
So if you’re interested, read on below to find out more about how to get started.
Like many people, I struggled in my early attempts to make money online. It's really frustrating when you try product after product, searching for that elusive opportunity that is really genuine.
Eventually though, I learned how to achieve success in the online world with my own website. This website was created to show others how to do it. I direct people away from the poor opportunities and advise the good ones.
