Rodan and Fields Review

Intro.

Let me begin by saying that Rodan and Fields is a legitimate company that sells beauty and skin care products. They’ve been around since 2002, and have been reasonably successful in the years since. Rodan and fields also offer a partnership program, allowing anyone to help promote their products.

This opportunity that is available to you, is a Multi Level Marketing system. Otherwise known as MLM, this is a legitimate opportunity to move product from supplier to customer. But some may question, is Rodin and Fields a Pyramid scam, or a scheme that will not produce results for your part in the process. I’m going to explain a little more about your chances of making money with Rodan and Fields MLM opportunity.

What is Rodan and Fields

As I mentioned above, Rodan and Fields are an ethical company that sells skin care beauty products. The company ventured into the MLM field of selling some time ago, with some success. Some people may consider this a Pyramid scheme, but I’m here to tell you it’s not. Does that mean you’ll earn decent money by becoming a Rodan and Fields Consultant? Not necessarily.

Pyramid schemes are illegal in Canada and the majority of the US. The sole purpose of a Pyramid scheme, is to recruit as many people as possible into a linked chain of circular money. Unfortunately, well over 95% of this money goes directly to the fraud at the top of the chain. To get a better handle on what a pyramid scheme actually is, take a look at this quick video.

Rodan & Fields offer a large range of skin care products, which are more on the expensive side if you ask me. But how does the Consultant program work, and will you make money from it.

How Does Rodan and Fields Work

By becoming a Rodan and Fields Consultant, you’re effectively becoming a working partner of theirs. There will be 2 options for you to make money. Firstly, you can sell their products via your website or via other methods. Alternatively, you can recruit other people to help sell the products. This is where some people may consider this a pyramid scheme, because you’ll earn small commissions from the members you recruit.

You’re going to have to outlay some of your own money to get started when you become a consultant. There’s an initial fee of $45, which they consider a Business Portfolio. This is basically a starter kit to get you up and running.

On top of this, you’ll be required to purchase kits to sell to your potential customers. There’s 3 kits available to purchase at a discounted rate. These kits are as follows:

• $995 RFx Express Business Kit
• $695 Big Business Launch Kit
• $395 Personal Results Kit

As you can see below, each of these kits offer different value options.

You’ll receive some marketing material and training to get you up to speed with what you’re selling. It’s also advisable to use the products yourself, so that you understand the impact they have.

What Are The Returns

To be honest, I don’t think the income returns are complementary. Sure, it’s possible to make money with the Rodan and Fields Consultant system, but I wouldn’t be relying on this for a consistent full time income.

You’ll find there is an SV (Sales Volume) points system, which when accumulated, needs to hit a threshold for you to get paid. This limit is $100, which you should be able to achieve if you work hard enough.

SV points will be earned by selling particular products. A product that generates 100 SV points will be worth $10. Some of these products only have a handful of SV points, yet several of the more expensive products even reach up to 900 SV points ($90).

You can go on to an extra level, called the Executive Consultant. This is where you’ll become an active member of a team, which will work on a 5% percentage basis.

Are the chances of earning a decent income very good? I’m hesitant to confirm this. I will however point you to the Rodan and Fields income disclaimer, which states that in 2018, only the top 1% of consultants were paid more than $29K for the year. This figure is not even a great full time salary, yet hardly anyone can expect to receive this kind of money.

Even the top 50% only earned $598 in the whole year of 2018.

To give you another indication of what percentage of paid consultants were paid in 2018, here’s a table from the Rodan and Fields income disclaimer page for total annual payments by tier.

The above table includes retail profit and commissions earned by Rodan and Fields consultants for the year 2018. They do also state that there is the potential to earn bonuses and incentives in recognition of performance. However, these figures do not include expenses that may be incurred by consultants.

Also, to be eligible to earn commissions on products, you must sell roughly $100 worth of products to customers, or as a personal purchase.

Getting Sales is NOT Easy

Acquiring new sales is not an easy thing to do, especially when you’re just beginning. When you start your account with Rodan and Field as an independent consultant, you’ll get a 30 day trial with Pulse Business Management Suite. This is where you’ll get 2 startup websites and tools to help your business grow.

So what will happen after this 30 day trial? You’ll be expected to pay a fee ($24.95 per month) to continue to use these tools and website. Now, even should you pay this fee to have access to these features, you’re hardest task is going to be getting website traffic.

Of course you can go door knocking, that’s pretty old school these days though isn’t it. The whole idea is to get sales via the internet. But who is going to come to your website if you don’t understand how to get it ranked in the search engines such as Google?

You’ll be encouraged to promote via social media, which is a legitimate method. One of the problems here, is that you don’t want to be bombarding all your close friends and family on social media, with you online selling exploits.

I’m not saying this can’t be done. All I am saying is that it won’t be as easy as you might think. There’s a reason why the top percentage is so low, because sales can be very hard to come by.

My Verdict

While it’s absolutely possible to make some money with Rodan and Fields MLM system, in my opinion, there’s not nearly enough money to have a life changing effect. As you can clearly see from the income disclaimer figures, only a small percentage of people will make a significant amount of money.

I suspect you’re reading this article because you’ve been searching for a way to make some extra cash. The beauty industry may appeal to you, in particular skin care products.

As I’ve explained, you’ll be provided with a website and tools to help you, but this will be a paid service after your 30 day trial. Well, why don’t you consider the following option.

A better solution may be to create your own website, and learn affiliate marketing. You’ll be earning commissions just like you would by partnering with Rodan and Fields.

By learning how affiliate marketing works, you’ll have the flexibility to promote your own beauty products. You can set your website up exactly how you’d like it, and promote the products that suit you. You can expand to other areas and become an affiliate for multiple companies. This way you won’t just be earning commission from one company.

The other huge benefit that this has over joining Rodan and Fields, is that you will NOT have to store inventory. There is no purchasing of kits to hold onto until they are sold. You simply promote the products on your website, then direct the potential purchaser to the merchants website to buy the product. If they decide to buy, you’ll earn a commission. Easy as that.

As with the Rodan and Fields option, you’ll still have the issue of getting website traffic. This is where a platform like Wealthy Affiliate comes in. They will teach you affiliate marketing, traffic generation, offer you loads of tools, a huge community of expert help, and you can even build your website with their website builder.

In my opinion, this is a much more sustainable option to build long term wealth. Your website becomes your asset, and only becomes more valuable over time. It offers you more diversity and multiple income streams.

I’ll conclude this article by stating that the opportunities out there to make money online are endless. However, not all of them will earn you an average wage or more. To earn these income figures, you will need to focus, and work reasonably hard to achieve the desired results.

Learning the affiliate marketing model like I did is fairly easy to do. However, to be successful, you just need to keep persisting and keep motivated. The cheaper method to get results is to get ranked in the search engines. This costs nothing, it just takes time. That’s because the search engines such as Google like content consistency, and website age.
